pharaoh 04:05
you drank all that pretty poison when all you needed was a tiny drop your blood promise broken softly as you wait for your heart to stop a little vial with a little secret a purple flower with a deadly bloom you made your bed and you’ll never leave it swathed in the sheets of your sullen tomb you don’t deserve to be saved (you know you did this to yourself) you fell in love with your pretty poison a quick escape from the life you’ve led there’s no cure for selfish cowards there’s no hope for the living dead a dark heart with a darker secret a purple bruise with a deadly bloom your fate sealed with a broken promise and your eyes have become a tomb you don’t deserve to be saved (you know you did this to yourself) to gaze upon you is to view the grim visage of death you’re far more than a childish nightmare you’re a phantom from the depths how often do you watch me sleeping? your head upon my breast the rasps of your breathing timed with the rise and fall of my chest you don’t deserve to be saved (you know you did this to yourself) i know it’s inevitable you’ll creep into my bed i know it’s inevitable you’ll crawl inside my head scratching at the inside of my skull i can feel you behind my eyes i know by heart the exact moment at which i lost hope

carried your body down to the rockwell tracks maybe the third rail would have the power to bring you back city-bought current to re-calcify your bones light up your skeleton then we’d both walk home and as i laid you down, i saw a dead rabbit that had been there for weeks. it must have gotten electrocuted itself, because its fur was so hard, charred, and sharp-looking that no amount of rain or getting constantly run over by bullet trains could alter its form. it looked strong, petrified not in the sense that it was scared, but in the way trees get petrified: immortal, un-moving, and turned to stone in its afterlife. if the CTA did that to a rabbit, then maybe it could do that to you. reborn in the night under sodium lights friends and family in sight hold tight, they’re all waiting for you follow the torch to your spot on the porch man, i know that you’re scorched no gore, they’re all waiting for you remember when you got to do it again man, this isn’t the end my friend, they’re all waiting for you back from the dead so you can sleep in your bed the powdering of the lead homestead, we’re all waiting for you stumbled to your feet and something in you broke started talking backwards as your eyes began to smoke i should’ve known that something was wrong when i looked down at the tracks and saw gears—tiny pieces from an iPod or a flip-phone or hell, even a walkman—that had gotten smashed between the rail and the gravel long ago. the tiny plastic mechanisms melted into your skin as the electricity coursed through you. maybe it was our fault that you weren’t the same. our fault that the outdated shards dripped into your body to disrupt whatever resurrection was taking place. our fault that you would pull a "pet sematary" and come back to us haunted. but we still managed to get you home, and we were better for it. reborn in the night under sodium lights friends and family in sight hold tight, they’re all waiting for you follow the torch to your spot on the porch man, i know that you’re scorched no gore, they’re all waiting for you remember when you got to do it again man, this isn’t the end my friend, they’re all waiting for you back from the dead so you can sleep in your bed the powdering of the lead homestead, we’re all waiting for you welcome home (i think you've got it) welcome home (they're all waiting for you) southport paulina addison irving park montrose damen western rockwell i was late for the doctor that day, so i ran to catch the train. it was raining out, and i slipped on the platform. my right headphone hit the wood and cracked. i lost my iPod, but i can still hear the ringing in my ears.

oh, i can hear you breathing oh, i can feel you seethe no, i will not submit beneath your fists you're just a skeleton to me (to me) i see your face in mine as if i wear a mask a veil of flesh to hide all the sins of your past perched on the bedpost, an owl in this wilderness when did this room become a forest? (to me) when you see me i won't be me take a breath and breathe in to me now i put my trust in you as if you were my guide inept and impotent you only tried to hide perched on a treetop, an owl in this wilderness there is a mirror within this forest when you see me i won't be me take a breath and breathe in to me now you bound yourself to me in this ancient ceremony you made me think that i just can't breathe without you i can't foresee a life that's free of madness you made me think that i can't be whole without you you made me bleed you burned the pyre so bright you'll never leave and i just can't breathe without you gone i just can't breathe without you gone i just can't breathe without you gone

show me the way to the edges of your dream give me your heart i’ll tell you what i've seen interstellar storms inside thunderous clouds and stars collide let me take you away far away to the edge of space and now we’re floating towards the end event horizon moving at the speed of light into the silence the universe is a fraction of your love caught in a drift of stardust from above take my hand and we will fly the sound of your voice multiplies let me take you away far away to the edge of space and now we’re floating towards the end event horizon moving at the speed of light into the silence into the silence

blindfolds 04:28
so distant the time when I carried you with me the measure of our hearts beating quietly in tune an earthquake cracks the spine, shakes the faith I had in you no longer full up, no longer full of love i loved you when you were song i loved you when you spoke to my heart i loved you why's it been so long breaks the measure of my love, the measure of my heart never a part of the conversation all the others tied their blindfolds to their faces you've gone through a metamorphosis, you’ve listened to your soul and it’s carried you away to fields to a plane of existence no one knows i was forced to change my ways so naïve, so innocent, so young and at the beginning… at the beginning… i loved you when you were song i loved you when you spoke to my heart i loved you why's it been so long breaks the measure of my love, breaks the measure of my heart

monument ii 05:25
a tower stood where trees once grew a wooden frame of sturdy build the birds did roost upon its peak until the tower fell to ruins and now a structure stands again built not by youth but wisdom’s hand a monument not tall, but firm with strength that very few shall earn how can i be all you need? wounds will never cease to bleed underneath the skin it stings i haven’t strength for anything the magpie stalks its latent prey a loosened thread upon your hem unraveled from your ragged frame and sewn into her nest of gems wring out the anguish from your hands un-stitch the thread within your heart pull taut and pierce the needle's eye and tear the nest of lies apart how can i provide for you? how can we support this brood? how can i repair this wing? i haven't strength for anything you’ll never let me fall your hands will never slip hold them upon my heart and never loose your grip you’ve built a wondrous nest and planted many seeds the roots hold fast in soil and bring us all we need waiting silently to be proven wrong how can i speak when filled with so much doubt? the wind will howl its lonesome song and the flame of fear that burns in me will forever be snuffed out this monument will stand

wear it 05:29
i'll bury my face in you breathe in deep until you fill my lungs and i sleep you've brought an end to the reign of a thousand tortures left unspoken i love your scent on me i'll wear it like a mask but i'm not hiding anymore i want your blood in me i'll hold it in my hands i'll drink like i can't live without it i need your hands on me to pull and scratch and soothe you are my salvation i'll put my trust in you bury it deep until i fill your heart and you sleep i'll mix my blood with yours we'll be clean so sweetly intoxicating i love your scent on me i'll wear it like a mask but i'm not hiding anymore i want your blood in me i'll hold it in my hands i'll drink like i can't live without it i need your hands on me to pull and scratch and soothe you are my salvation i love your scent on me i'll wear it like a mask but i'm not hiding anymore i want your blood in me i want my blood in you
